The Joy of Saint Sava's Feast in London - Светосавска радост у Лондону / Sunday, January 26, 2025.

On Sunday, January 26, our parish community joyfully celebrated our Patronal Feast – the Feast of Saint Sava, the first Archbishop and Enlightener of the Serbian people.

The celebration began with the Divine Liturgy, attended by a large number of faithful. Following the service, the students of our Serbian School, led by their religious education teacher, Milena Markovic, who prepared this year's program, presented a festive performance in honor of Saint Sava.

The program began with the singing of the Hymn to Saint Sava, followed by recitations by our youngest students. The audience then enjoyed a dramatic presentation entitled "Saint Sava Reconciles His Quarreling Brothers." Portraying the holy members of the Nemanjić dynasty, the children beautifully illustrated Saint Sava's wisdom, love, and peacemaking spirit. Afterwards, the older students recited poems dedicated to Saint Sava.

A particularly memorable moment of the program was the performance of the song "One Country, One Team," written by Tijana Rajkovic. Accompanied vocally by Marija Miljkovic, Ana Dukic, and Milena Markovic, all of the children filled the hall with their beautiful voices, bringing special joy and adding even greater beauty to this festive day. We extend our sincere gratitude to Tijana Rajković for her support and for granting permission to perform this song. Its message of unity and love perfectly complemented the spirit of our Saint Sava celebration.

Following the children's program, the Slava bread was blessed and cut in the parish hall in the presence of a large number of parishioners. This year's Slava sponsors were Vanja and Goran Komlenovic, whom we warmly congratulate and thank for their dedication and excellent organization. According to tradition, they passed a portion of the Slava bread to Divna and Janko Bojic, who will serve as next year's Slava sponsors.

Those gathered were addressed by Fr. Dusko Markovic, Dragan Arezina, President of the Church Board, and Miljan Karac, Vice President of the Church Board. They spoke about the importance of community and emphasized the enduring significance of Saint Sava's spiritual heritage for our Serbian people living in the diaspora.

We owe special thanks to the sisters of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, who prepared a delicious Slava luncheon for everyone present and beautifully arranged the hall, as well as to all those whose love, dedication, and hard work helped make this day a joyful and memorable celebration for our parish community.

May the spirit of Saint Sava continue to guide us on the path of faith and unity, so that our parish community may continue to grow in love and every Christian virtue.

У недељу, 26. јануара, наша заједница је, са великом радошћу, прославила храмовну славу – празник Светог Саве, првог архиепископа и просветитеља српског.

Свечаност је започела Светом Литургијом, којој је присуствовао велики број верника. Након богослужења, ученици Српске школе, предвођени својом вероучитељицом Миленом Марковић, која је припремила овогодишњу приредбу, извели су свечани програм у част Светог Саве.

Ученици су најпре отпевали Светосавску химну, након чега су уследиле рецитације најмлађих ђака. Потом су присутни могли да погледају драмски приказ „Свети Сава мири завађену браћу“. Тумачећи улоге светих Немањића, деца су на упечатљив начин приказала светитељску мудрост и љубав. Затим су старије ученице наше школе рецитовале своје песме посвећене Светом Сави.

Посебан тренутак приредбе било је извођење песме „Једна земља, један тим“, аутора Тијане Рајковић. Уз вокалну пратњу Марије Миљковић, Ане Ђукић и Милене Марковић, сва деца су својим дивним гласовима донела посебну радост и додатно улепшала овај свечани дан. Захваљујемо се Тијани Рајковић на подршци и дозволи да се ова песма изведе. Њена песма о заједништву и љубави на најлепши начин је употпунила дух наше светосавске прославе.

Након приредбе, у присуству великог броја парохијана, у црквеној сали је пререзан славски колач. Овогодишњи кумови славе били су Вања и Горан Комленовић, којима од срца честитамо и захваљујемо се на труду и одличној организацији. Они су, по традицији, предали део славског колача Дивни и Јанку Бојићу, који ће наредне године бити кумови славе.

Присутнима су се обратили отац Душко Марковић, председник Црквене општине Драган Арежина и потпредседник Миљан Караћ. Говорили су о заједници и нагласили значај светосавског наслеђа за наш народ у расејању.

Посебну захвалност дугујемо сестрама из Кола српских сестара, које су припремиле укусан славски ручак за све присутне и све дивно средиле, као и свима који су својим трудом и љубављу допринели да овај дан остане у лепом сећању нашој заједници.

Нека нас дух Светог Саве настави водити путем вере и слоге, како би наша црквена заједница напредовала у љубави и свакој врлини.
